Amy and Josh: detail
This holiday weekend, while everyone is enjoying the celebration of our country’s independence, Dave and I also get to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
It’s unbelievable that 7 years have passed in a flash. As cliché as it sounds, it still remains a favorite day of my life and as I work with clients to help with their weddings, I have the great fortune to still relive the best part of our day regularly. So, to me, our wedding literally still feels like yesterday. We worked hard to keep a fourth of July wedding fun and casual with a picnic feel that everyone could kick back and enjoy.
We thought it would be fun to take a look back at our favorite parts.

Mel & Dave wedding rehearsal bbq
Good Humor ice cream…We challenged our caterer to serve classic Good Humor ice cream pops and bars at our BBQ rehearsal dinner (before the days of vintage ice cream delivery trucks at your wedding).

Fan programs
Fan programs … being in the stationery biz, probably my biggest obsession was the programs. I had a vision of fans that actually moved and were functional, but 7 years ago there wasn’t much like this on the market, so I created fan programs with grommets for easy spinning, and as I walked down the aisle I literally was most excited about the fact that people were using the fans! (crazy I know!)

Dancing at the reception
Classic swing band… to keep the picnic feel we chose a swing band instead of a more contemporary DJ, which got everyone on the dance floor even if swing dancing wasn’t their thing. It was a fun nostalgic nod.

Sparklers
Sparklers as favors…although fireworks were a little out of our budget we gave out favors of packages of sparklers … the note said “add some sparkle to your life, love mel and dave.”
I love that my job is to help hundreds of couples plan their ideal day that they will always remember fondly.
