Make opening gift cards more fun. Use a small candy tin and redecorate the cover with fabric, paper and glittery letters. A glass jar holds a coffee filter filled with coffee beans and a gift card to a coffeeshop. Use additional filters to make flowers to decorate the lid. An embroidery hoop covered on both sides with a sewing pattern provides a nice flat package for a fabric or craft store gift card.

Fun colored knee socks can be folded around a jar and filled with candy (and the matching sock of course). A simple metal container is filled with smaller socks filled with treats and tied off with a set of flower hair pins. Several stretchy bracelets in fun colors decorate the container and help hold up the 2 birthday candles that call out the age of the birthday girl.

Buy a single solid color of gift wrap and use it in a variety of ways. Go after it with a Sharpie and make it whatever theme you like. Tie a beautiful ribbon and sprig of pine on the package for a sophisticated holiday present. Or raid your local hardware store for paint swatches. Use a hole punch to cut out colorful shapes and glue them onto your package.
