Thank you to Style me Pretty for featuring Briana and Scott’s glorious Long Island beach wedding. It was a perfect showcase for the nautical side of our Come Fly with Me wedding suite from PostScript Brooklyn. These wonderful photographs are courtesy of Khaki Bedford Photography.

Tony and Hsiao: Game of Thrones themed wedding invitations and day of wedding accessories

Tony and Hsiao: Game of Thrones-inspired wedding invitation and day of wedding accessories

The Game of Thrones-themed illustrations featured throughout this collection are by Lion in the Sun’s Victoria: “When Hsiao first approached me about a Game of Thrones-inspired invitation suite, I have to admit I found the task a bit daunting. The aesthetics of the graphic novel and HBO show are so iconic that I was hesitant to even attempt to emulate them. The couple was also very intent on the fact that theirs would not be a ‘theme wedding’, but rather a modern and sophisticated homage to the show they loved. This freed me up to put my spin on the suite, playing with the themes and motifs of the show but creating original artwork that was more modern and graphic.”

“It was also fun to add a tongue-in-cheek element to the Save-The-Date with a play on the show’s ominous tag-line “Winter is coming,” since we felt this was the perfect place to acknowledge the humor of their choice before really glamming it up with the elegant gold foil, black museum board and intricate letterpress silhouettes.”

“I had a blast working on this project and I must admit that it whet our
appetite for more unconventional suite designs here at Lion in the Sun, so
definitely keep ’em coming!”

Let the Wedding Crashing Begin!

High winds and low temperatures couldn’t keep us from The Green Building last night, where we helped kick off Wedding Crashers 2013. While the main event, which will feature 50 food, floral, photography, and event design vendors (and … well, us!) isn’t until March 10th, the fun began yesterday with a fabulous trunk show.

We can’t get enough of The Green Building’s sleek industrial vibe (take note, brides!), and we had a blast snacking on The Cleaver Co.’s yummy finger foods, sipping reds and whites from The Greene Grape, oohing and ahhing over Charlie Juliet’s fab photography, and playing dress up in gowns from Michelle and gloves and capes from The Wedding Dresser.

The Wedding Dresser: Lace Gloves

Next Wednesday, we’ll be heading back over to The Green building, where Melinda will be sharing wedding planning tips and tricks at Wedding Planning 101, alongside Vané Broussard of Brooklyn Bride, Chef Rossi of The Raging Skillet, event and floral designer Kerry Quade, Ara Farnam of Rock Paper Scissors Events, and knower of all things bridal, Anne Chertoff. Tickets are $15 per couple/two friends and $10 for individuals, so if you’re a bride-to-be with big questions to ask, we hope you’ll come join us.

Planning to come to the main event? General admission tickets to Wedding Crashers are $25 in advance or $30 at the door, and include cocktails at The Green Building’s bar, all food, and admission to a wedding band showcase at the Bell House following the event.

The Green Building

We hope to see you over at The Green Building! xo
